Pulse

Pulse

A Total Manangement Solution for Steel Processing Job Shops

Pulse is a complete workflow management system for the steel processing industry that has been continously developed in the real world since 1999.

It manages the seamless transfer of information through your workflow, ensuring the required information is available for each step in the production sequence.

Pulse was built from scratch with one purpose in mind. Maximise the efficiency and profitability of steel processing operations.

We Understand Steel

We have been working with steel processing companies for 25 years, analysing their problems and developing solutions.

We are not a reseller of off-shore software focussed on foreign markets. We wrote the program that runs your business and intimately understand both it and your business processes.

New clients always remark within a few hours "You aren't like the other software guys we spoke to. How do you know so much about our job?

The answer is that we are long term specialists in the industry and have never stopped looking for ways to improve it. We have spent countless days locked in rooms with owners, production managers, sales managers and cad managers, learning the intricacies of all of their jobs, and working with them to refine their processes.

If you take on Pulse, you take on the best solutions from all our varied clients.

Industry's Leading Schedule Engine

Scheduling issues are the main reason growing manufacturing companies decide to invest in software. Everything in Pulse is built around its industry leading schedule engine.

Parts are defined as a sequence of tasks, generally based on predefined templates. Pulse then joins the common tasks into productions jobs and generates a sequence diagram for the entire works order. Pulse starts at the required delivery date and works its way from the bottom up the dependency tree to create a latest finish date on each job. It then schedules from the top down, setting an earliest start date on each job equal to the latest of the finish dates of the jobs it depends on.

Any time you update a job, Pulse recalculates all earliest start dates, and reshuffles the schedule queue on all affected resources. Any generated gaps are automatically filled by pulling available jobs forward into the gap.

Every job displays it's lead / lag time via colour coded bands across the bottom. You will always know which jobs are running late, which jobs have available lead time, and which despatch jobs can no longer go out on time.

Your Own Software

Ownership

We provide a completely independent code base for each client, derived from the Pulse core. This is a unique service and our key offering, your system matches your specific business requirements.

With your own system, anything is possible. We work with you to provide your ideal solution. High priority change requests can be implemented same day. We can hard-code your business rules rather than having to create an expensive, complicated and less functional customisable solution.

If you choose an off-the-shelf solution, your requests will be added to a global wish list, which the vendor might put into their annual rollout if they deem it suitable for their generic solution.

Software Provision is a Service

Service

Without an ongoing service based relationship, the utilisation of your system will slowly degrade, and you will find yourself dealing with increasing workarounds.

We maintain a continuous consultancy relationship, working together with your staff to identify and optimise your operational short-falls. The system IS your business, and as such needs to evolve in a process of continuous improvement. Our oldest system, at the ripe age of 25 years, is still regularly enhanced.

When it comes to general support, we actually ANSWER the phone and respond to your email queries like a business partner. We even hand out our personal numbers for out of hours emergencies.

Proven Performance

Proven Performance

Our primary partner is the Southern Steel Group, the largest privately owned Steel Company in Australia.

We have been working together since 1999 to provide management systems for their steel processing operations right across the country. Pulse is currently installed in each of their processing sites and the number grows each year. That is 25 years years of profitable partnership and continous service. We invite you to talk with them.

We also developed and maintain the management system for the Steel House Frames division of the Stoddart Group, a renowned 60 year old construction business with over 500 employees. Our ongoing relationship is now in its 20th year.
